Raised in the Colorado Rockies, Catherine de Medici Jaffee (Cat) is a storytelling, cliff-hucking, beekeeper, and audio producer.
Cat focuses on making storytelling more accessible to under-represented communities. She has launched and led several companies including Balyolu: the Honey Road, a honey-tasting trekking company in Eastern Turkey that used the proceeds to train local women in beekeeping and hospitality. And more recently, she has begun building House of Pod - a co-working space and production hub for podcasts.
With a double major in Political Science and Religion from Wellesley College, Cat has worked as a Marketing Director, a digital organizer and an editor for organizations like National Geographic, Unreasonable Group, Narrative 4, 350.org, Ashoka, the Asian Rural Institute and the Aspen Institute.
For her work and research, she has won a number of global awards including a National Geographic Explorer grant, a Fulbright scholarship, a Luce in Asia Scholarship, the Four Corners State Department Award, the Critical Language Enhancement Award, and recognition as a two-time youth delegate to the United Nations.
In addition to launching House of Pod, Cat is an independent producer and Transom grad. She has volunteered with KGNU and KBUT, and produced for Why We Eat What We Eat, and others.
